About Us
Sunflower Sams is the local Kansas City, Kansas chapter of the International Good Sam Club, originally chartered in 1972 with 22 rig owners. We currently have 24 rigs in the club, with a mixture of class A’s, B’s, and travel trailers, making us the largest chapter in KS. Our primary objective is to “get away from it all,” and we do. We take the three Rs (Relaxation, Rest, and Recreation) very seriously.
Chapter Events
Our chapter meets year round. From April through October, we camp from Friday through Sunday on the second weekend of the month. We split our outings between RV parks and campgrounds. On Friday evening we gather at the campfire or the game room and the relaxation begins. On Saturday we usually have a pot-luck dinner in the evening and the business meeting to follow. Each camper brings a meat dish and a side or dessert. Each person provides his or her own drink and table service. From November through March, we meet for a luncheon on the second Saturday of the month for our chapter meeting.
Campout and luncheon schedules will be followed as closely as possible. You will be notified if it becomes necessary to make a change. Guests are always welcome! If you have pictures or other items of interest, we’d appreciate getting them for our scrapbook. If you have a hobby, craft, slides, etc. to share with us, we’d be happy to have you “Show and Tell”.
Membership and Dues
All chapter members must first be members in good standing of the Good Sam Club and the Kansas State Chapter. Annual chapter dues of $5.00 per person are to be paid to the chapter treasurer before August 1st of each year. Membership extends from October 1st of any given year to September 30th of the following year. Annual state dues of $10.00 per family must also be paid to the chapter treasurer, who will remit them to the state treasurer. State dues cover Jan 1st through Dec 31st of each calendar year. If a member does not pay both chapter and state dues by October 1st, they will not be renewed.
